So is it Okay to Vote for the Devil?

As election day comes upon us, once again I look on in complete puzzlement. I hear it is the “Christian’s duty” to vote for one of the two candidates. “The lesser of the two evils” is the line echoed over and over, as if it were quoted straight from the Word of God.

But I can’t find that in my Bible.

Instead, I read in Exodus 23:2, “Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil”.

Strangely, not many Christians argue about the fact that both Obama and Romney are evil. How can they? Both candidates support murder, homosexuality, idolatry, and other abominations that God, in His Holy Word, refuses to leave unpunished.

The face of the LORD is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. Psalms 34:16

Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God. 3 John 1:11

Why do we think that voting for the lesser of two evils is okay? If the devil himself was a candidate this year, I am convinced he would appear as the lesser evil compared to Obama and Romney, “for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light”. 2 Corinthians 11:14

Does that make it okay?

When will we take a stand for righteousness?

Christians seem to think that the lesser of two evils will result in less evil as the years go by, but history rebuts that theory. Make no doubt about it, voting for the lesser of two evils has allowed the evil we have today.

What was thought of as the wisest choice is really foolishness.

Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. Proverbs 3:7

Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:21

We, as Christians and creations of the Creator, have a Higher Power to answer to – Yahweh, the Lord Almighty. Do you think the lesser of two evils is good enough for Him? Do you think He’ll “be okay” with us choosing the lesser of two evils?

If you are familiar with your Holy Bible, then the answer is a resounding NO!

For what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?

And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. 2 Corinthians 6:14-17

Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. 1 Peter 1:13-16

Here is the conclusion of the matter –  Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil. Ecclesiastes 12:13-14

We have a choice to make. It may not be an easy choice but we can only serve one god. We can follow after righteousness, or we can follow after evil. We can’t do both.

Which god will you serve?
