Lamentable

I opened my Bible this morning to Lamentations 5…

Remember, O Yahweh, what is come upon us: consider, and behold our reproach.
Our inheritance is turned to strangers, our houses to aliens.
We have drunken our water for money; our wood is sold unto us.
Our necks are under persecution: we labour, and have no rest.
Our fathers have sinned, and are not; and we have borne their iniquities.
Servants have ruled over us: there is none that doth deliver us out of their hand.

Does anyone else see the comparison?

“Our inheritance is turned to strangers, our houses to aliens”.
Does anyone else notice that our country is being taken over by people who care nothing for us or our freedoms – much less our lives?

“We have drunken our water for money; our wood is sold unto us.”
Is it just me or does anyone else concede to the fact that what is truly ours (better yet, ours through Yahweh’s grace and abundance) is being forcefully taken from us and “sold back”? (Think property taxes, vehicle registrations, etc.)

“Our necks are under persecution: we labour, and have no rest.”
Does anyone else feel that 40-60% of one’s paycheck in taxes and fees falls under this category? To work half of one’s life away just to pay “Big Brother” is slavery.

“Servants have ruled over us: there is none that doth deliver us out of their hand.”
Does anyone else care that these public servants that our fathers set up have become tyrants and oppressors?

“Our fathers have sinned, and are not; and we have borne their iniquities.”
Can’t we keep this phenomena from burdening our children as well?

Remember, O Yahweh, what is come upon us: consider, and behold our reproach!

  1. I see it and it makes me sick. The saddest part of the whole thing to me is that our fathers warned us that this was coming, and that people choose to turn a blind eye and just keep following the crowd because it's "easier".
